Watching Movies with Parents or Kids

Driving home today, I had a flashback. Not of the LSD variety. But I remembered a movie experience with my parents that I certainly tried hard to forget. A few years ago, my parents and I attempted to see some movie, can't remember now, and it was sold out...mom says, "I heard Monster's Ball is good," so we ended up in that theater. Holy shit. I have rarely, if ever, been that uncomfortable. During THOSE two minutes, my dad let out an audible gasp when he saw naked Halle Berry. About 30 seconds later, my mom slapped his hand like she was playing whack-a-mole when he went for the popcorn. We rode home in complete and utter silence and darkness that night. Never been that mortified watching a movie with my parents. Anyone else have that kind of moment with their parents or kids?

I seem to recall in the early days of HBO ("Hey! Boobs on the TV!") having parents in the room when "The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea" came on, and Kris Kristofferson and Sarah Miles suddenly started going at it.

I remember watching "The Blues Brothers" on DVD with Parents-in-law, and two nieces in law, who IIRC were about 5 and 7 at the time.

I think the parents-in-law had seen it a few too many times on cable, and forgot how profane it got at times. It was terrific.

and here's for the folks who deal better with the visual rather than the written word ... and oh, yeah, NSFW

Going to go see Casino Royale with my dad a few years ago was pretty uncomfortable, especially during the "torture scene"...but mostly because I was sitting two feet from my father, having impure thoughts about Daniel Craig.

My dad and I went to see 8mm just thinking it was a good Nicholas Cage movie. It was really about the underground illegal porn industry. Very awkward. I think I was like 15 at the time.

A while back my dad tracks down a copy of "Jade" for me. Turns out it was the directors cut. I watched on my own then called him back.
"Look, I appreciate you finding this, but I need you to take it back and get the regular version," I say.
"Why?" the old man says, startled.
"I have no problem with sex scenes, but there's just some stuff in there I really don't need to see."
    "Like what?"
"Like a dude's taint, and Linda Fiorentino getting banged with panty hose over her face."
    Long....very long.... awkward pause.

Ya, I'm sure they'll enjoy the curb-biting scene

I watched 40-year-old virgin with my mother-in-law and two aunts. That was kinda awkward at times.
