Became a hurricane overnight. It's still well out in the Atlantic, but bears watching. It's a very early Cape Verde storm; don't know if it's a harbinger or anything for August/September.

    Looks like Bermuda is bracketed.

I think 1996 was last time we had a Cape Verde cane this early...

It was also named Bertha and formed July 5, 96.

Meanwhile, on Wall Street, on the fat chance that this hurricane will hit the gulf, prices on crude rose 20 cents......

The only gulf this this is hitting is the Gulf of Greenland.

Having been hit by Bertha, I remember her well. This Bertha's developed a nice circulation and should get a little stronger today. But if it scoots past Bermuda, it's a fish storm. Good ol' Bermuda High.

I once got bumped pretty hard by Bertha, Bertha Butt, one of the Butt sisters.

Yeah, but those Wall Street folks can speculate can't they?

    Really..?

Because it looks as if oil is down more than $4 as of right now.

Oil traders are just waiting for it to get close to the North Sea to bid up prices again.

The BAMM model is the only one that looks like trouble for the eastern seaboard. There's an 80% chance right now this thing will skirt east of Bermuda.

Which is great, unless you're in Bermuda.
