So, ye olde chef was in a 36-hole strokeplay golf tournament labor day weekend.

The mens golf assosciation at my local club bought an insurance policy, and put up 10,000 dollars for the first hole-in-one, and a local business chipped in $1,000 for every hole in one.

Local pizza guy gets on the tee.

    169 yards

Wind blowing straight in at about 35 mph.

His 2nd hole of the day.

    3wood.

I said he used a FUCKING 3 WOOD!

I was 2 holes behind, but the guys in the group said this thing started about 50 feet left of the hole, and made a beeline towards the green.

    Hits.

    Bounces.

    Into the hole.

    $11,000

Guys reaction......."Hell, isn't that what you're supposed to do?"

"Oh dear. We seem to be a little short on cash. How EVER will we pay for this hole-in-one?"

That's why they had the "hole-in-one" insurance policy. Although I don't know how exactly that works. Seems it would not be in the company's best interest to insure a risk like that unless it was for a prolonged period of time.

Jesus, a 3 wood 169 yards into the hole? They should have paid him double for making that.

I thought this was going in a whole different direction. Guess I watch the wrong kinds of movies.

Hole in one insurance is just like it sounds; you pay a premium of a couple hundred bucks to a company which covers the possibility of a hole in one for cash or a car or whatever. Several companies do it, and they obviously take in more than they pay out. The insurance is always predicated on the hole being a certain length (generally 175 yards).
