    Love this part:

Journalists should be working side by side with their business-side colleagues to create and monetize products—and should be evaluated, in part, on their ability to do just that.

Isn't this special? Bad enough that jounalists have been hammered in recent years because their "business-side colleagues'' couldn't figure out how to make or maintain profits. Now they're supposed to be hammered if they don't come up with enough of these ethically dubious brainstorms.

Nice business model: Unemploy so many journalists, then evaluate the hell out of the rest.

This is really a tough deal, because for those of us who have been around a while, paragraphs like this run the blood run cold for several reasons, and believe me, workload is right up there on the list:

Anybody who has ever run a workshop or seminar knows the work involved. And this is like: "Hey, report perhaps the most important news story in America right now and, oh, by the way, line up a major seminar."

And this guy simply throws that out there like, "Oh, and write a 12-paragraph sidebar." Completely oblivious to reality.

On the other hand, thinking outside traditional relationships and roles and making money wherever you can is going to be part of the deal to keep people in business and, therefore, employed. So while he presents it pretty distastefully, there's some basic truth in there somewhere.

I haven't decided if this guy is a pimp or a whore, or both. I'm leaning toward both.
