Whenever this is brought up, I worry about the blood supply to and from those dicks.

I mean, are they being kept on ice?

    No. Viagara.

I loved the piece. But if I had never been on a subway in Washington, maybe not so much.

I am an elitist and geek and have even been to the ballet, though.

Washington's Metro system is pretty antiseptic, right everybody?

That's sort of another reason why it didn't work.

Hated the entire piece. And I'm a huge classical music fan.

After I read the fourth sentence in the first paragraph, I knew it was going to be a long haul:

Placing the open case at his feet, he shrewdly threw in a few dollars and pocket change as seed money,

Shrewdly? Seed money? Good Lord, is he writing for ten year olds?

Pretentious and overwritten twaddle. Did he decide to have fun with his new Roget?

The fact that it won a Pulitzer is well, depressing.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled dicks.

Maybe I am wrong in this assumption, but the Metro is different from the NYC subway in that 95% of the people on the Metro are going to or coming from work.

The NYC subway is used much more for going to shop, going to see a friend, going to go to the gym and thus are not similar types of riders.

Too many variables here not accounted for by the story.

I wish Ragu would post his story here that he wrote on another thread.

I'm pretty sure millions of people use the NYC subway to get to/from work.

It may be that a higher percentage of Metro riders are work commuters, but I would venture a guess that the NYC subway carries more work commuters in terms of numbers-- by far.

You realize this was done two years ago, right? This wasn't recent.

Okay so it wasn't technically a recession back then, but the economy wasn't so great 2 years ago. Remember when we got Pelosi and the Democrats flooding Congress?

It's hard to believe but the economy has stunk for quite some time now.

  9. Nobody has been able to afford bags of dicks for a long time.
Most of the haute cuisine restaurants featuring bags of dicks have gone under.
Now you can only get instant bags of dicks from the grocery store.

"Sky King -- Brought to you by Instant Bag O'Dicks, the snack sensation!"
Their commercials back in the '50's, with Hugh Beaumont, are considered classics of the genre.

  12. To be fair, their turn-of-the-century print campaign with Sarah Bernhardt, first lady of the theater, set the standard.
