    I labored to get through that piece.

    Walk through the Union Square subway in New York at rush hour on a Friday evening. It's not unusual to see a crowd of 200 people listening to a jazz ensemble-- and follow a song with thunderous applause.

    Part of the problem with this set up was doing it in the morning while people were trying to get to work during a recession.

    With the enjoyment of music, so much is about the time and mood.
