    The Morgan County News, a 3,800 circulation weekly newspaper publishing on Wednesdays in Wartburg, Tenn., has an opening for a sports-general news reporter/photographer. The successful candidate will be responsible for sports and some general news coverage. This person needs to be a multi-talented writer, photographer and paginator/page designer. This person must be dedicated to excelling at local sports and news coverage, identifying and producing enterprise stories, and contributing to special sections. They must be organized, a team player, deadline-conscious and a stickler for accuracy and fairness. Qualifications include a B.A. degree (preferably journalism degree) or equivalent experience and one or more years of experience in the newspaper field. Experience may substitute for education. Expertise with InDesign and familiarity with Photoshop are necessary. This person will need to assist the editor with pre-and post-editing of copy and photographs, cover games, some news assignments, and write feature stories in addition to writing a regular sports column. The work schedule is roughly 40 hours per week, with evening and some weekend work required as needed.     The Morgan County News, a weekly newspaper in Wartburg, Tenn., has an opening for a sports-general news reporter/photographer. The successful candidate will be responsible for sports and some general news coverage for this weekly newspaper publishing on Wednesdays, with circulation of about 3,800. It is located in the county seat of Wartburg, Tenn., on the Cumberland Plateau near Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Frozenhead State Park and the Obed Wild and Scenic River.

    The successful applicant will be a multi-talented writer, photographer and paginator/page designer. This person must be dedicated to excelling at local sports and news coverage, identifying and producing enterprise stories, and contributing to special sections. They must be organized, a team player, deadline-conscious and a stickler for accuracy and fairness.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    * B.A. degree or equivalent experience.
    * One or more years of experience in the newspaper field, journalism degree preferred.
    Experience may substitute for education.
    * Expertise with InDesign and familiarity with Photoshop.
    * Strong interpersonal skills.
    * Must be an organized self-starter who can communicate with and assist with the staff as needed.
    * Possess time management skills and be able to work well with others.
    * Be able to meet and deal with the public on newspaper and community issues.
    * Ability to quickly adapt to change.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    * Assist editor with pre-and post-editing of copy and photographs.
    * Cover games, some news assignments, and write feature stories.
    * Write regular sports columns.
    * Plan, shoot and design photo essays.
    * Actively generate and develop unique stories and/or photographs.
    * Participate in production and pagination of newspaper pages, including sports, school news, obituaries and more.
    * Be an active participant in newspaper projects.
    * Assist with planning and production of special sections.
    * Must be able help with customers in the office.

    WORK SCHEDULE
    Roughly 40 hours weekly, with evening and some weekend work required as needed.
