    I don't understand what I could have possibly done to get chastised publicly by a Moderator for arguing my side too vociferously. I like to talk about things like this with smart people. Sue me.

    It isn't economically sound to play the lottery. Unless, as someone said, the odds reach a tipping point.

    If they think it is economically sound, they are wrong.

    I don't think anyone thinks playing the lottery is economically sound.

    It's GAMBLING, not investing.

    Not so fast.....story is running that the three guys didn't win the lotto, and were merely claiming the winnings for a client of theirs. This client wanted to remain anonymous, so they claimed the prize on his behalf.

    I don't think I would go so far as to claim the lottery is a regressive tax. Nobody is forced to buy tickets unlike taxes where there is no choice whether to pay.
