I say this as a man with a vote. History teaches us the Hall of Fame electorate can do anything it wants for whatever reason, good reason or not.

Raines and Alomar are (or should be) locks to me. Blyleven and Larkin are maybe's.

You do know everyone who has played 10 years gets at least one year on the ballot, right?

And you need two percent of the vote to stay on.

And most of the players on your list are Hall of Very Good, NOT Hall of Fame.

You need 5% to stay on the ballot.

I'd be curious what the lowest percentage is that someone received in a year who eventually made it to the Hall.

    Alomar should be a lock
I'll be a little surprised if Bagwell has to wait a year.
    Raines should get in eventually.
    Blyleven will get in eventually.

    Will Rueter get a vote?

    Jim Deshaies did.

It's been a The Hall of Very Good, often, in the past 15 years or so. The bar has already been lowered. Isn't Bagwell more or less the equivalent of Stargell, Cepeda, Perez, Dawson, Sandberg, Rice...?

Nope, and that is an odd little courtesy by the Hall.

I'm guessing, but see Perez, Tony...
