I can't confirm anything, but there have been rumors floating around that Wal-Mart is looking for people to help repair their image in individual communities. All the negative press has taken its toll, and there are few people on the ground trying to improve it.
Chances are, Jim Bob Customer isn't going to hear about a press release put out at Wal-Mart HQ in Arkansas.

Maybe they're finally embracing the 19th century and starting their own newspaper.

    A Wal-Mart newspaper? Awesome!

  7. Well, at least then they'll have a newspaper they'll advertise in.

Based on the various documentaries and magazine articles I've read, plus just word-of-mouth anecdotes, there's no way in hell I'd work for Wal-Mart, in any capacity. Being a PR flak for them would be particularly soul-killing work.

Maybe that's why they're targeting former Asbestos PR people. It's seems modest by comparison.
