I'll have two local papers to pick up off my flagstones tomorrow morning, and I'm sure somebody will give me one. And will feel clever for having written it.

If I see one tonight, it's getting sent back for a re-write.

I've always thought these kinds of threads are funny. I would never write one of these, but the fact is that Joe and Tina Schmoe find this stuff amusing. It's entertaining to a reader who isn't a journalist.

You hate writing cliches and being tacky, but the average person is easily amused by stuff like this.

The average person also is easily amused with dick and fart jokes. Why not put those in as well?

Didn't you hear the NYT is adding a dick and fart section?

    Is tomorrow April SportsPredictor day?

I'm sorry. I'll get out of fifth grade now.

  9. That took me a second, but I eventually got a good little chuckle out of it.

I guess April Fools jokes do work.

Pirates scored nine runs today against the Braves.

The April Fool lede fits perfectly.
