Well, sure, Bundy has argued that.

I thought we were talking about his "supporters".

Can you agree that the best place for Elián González was with his father, yet be uncomfortable with this image:

Yes. Unless it is your argument that they should've assumed armed militias would protest a completely legitimate court order.

Even if it wasn't a long-settled issue, which it IS, since you brought it up, does this sound like a reasonable debate on land policy to you?

    See, this is great:

If you "support" Bundy, you're a racist.

Never mind that folks can support the rights of the KKK or KSM and not be accused of "supporting" them.

Actually I think outside of the tri-state area, which believes the country ends west of New Jersey, many citizens realize a large portion of the Rocky Mountain/West Coast states are owned by the Federal government.

And that's why the BLM has numerous offices in all Rocky Mountain/West Coast states.

"Better stewards of the lands" is simply codeword for mining, oil, pip[eline and natural gas companies. You know, the "stewards of the land" who are slowly transforming once-pristine western North Dakota and western Wyoming into the country's largest Superfund sites.

The lands aren't managed "from Washington."

Half of the US population lives east Pike County, Indiana. The major population centers of New York, Washington, and New England make up a good percentage of that population.

A huge majority of the media resides in New York and Washington.

The BLM does not own a single acre of land in all of New England. The BLM owns.manages more acres in Nevada alone than are in all of the states of New England in total.

So, yes, many Americans never think about land policy, and many in the West are unhappy with it.

(Though, if you try to put up a wind farm in Nantucket Sound, you'll see how fast folks stand up for their rights.)

And, yes, there is a question of why so much land needs to be set aside, and not used for industry, like oil and gas drilling.

The current BLM director is not a veteran of the BLM with decades of experience in land management. He's a 35-year-old, who worked there for a year, after previously being a top deputy to Harry Reid.

Is this a job for professionals, or for political cronies?

    No?

Where is the Bureau headquartered? Where's the Director of the BLM's office?

No wonder my local Starbucks is so overpriced. I'm here in Virginia and their CEO is all the way in freakin' Seattle!

Are you arguing that Starbucks is not managed from Seattle?
