Our corporate internet folks sent out this advisory earlier today about the Cowboys' upcoming press conference:

KDAF is hosting a live stream of the 1:30 p.m. (CT) Dallas Cowboys news conference. The team is expected to name Jerry Jones as the new head coach.

That was quickly followed by the correct version:

Jerry Jones is announcing JASON GARRETT will be the new head coach.

The first version got a lot of laughs here ....

Has Jones complied with the Rooney Rule?

Would anyone be shocked if Jones actually tried to do that?

I'm sure he thinks he'd be great.

Supposedly, he was going to give a cursory interview to wide receivers coach Ray Sherman. Then again, if he interviews Sherman for head coach and then doesn't hire him as offensive coordinator, it was clearly a farce (more so than it already is).

He also had Miami assistant HC/secondary coach Todd Bowles in for an interview yesterday. He is supposedly a strong candidate for the DC job.

I don't know whether they could do any worse with Ol' Smiley on the headsets. That's the sad part.
