I get the impression Kluwe would be bored to tears by being an NFL analyst.

What about his own celebrity if a NFL-caliber punter? Is he allowed to leverage that?

    Yeah when he retires.

So no current players should be leveraging their celebrity for any cause?

Football 24/7 is for obsessed coaches. Many of them burn out later.
There's a lot to be said for balance. Helps your mental approach, too.

The question isn't "can a punter have an impact game."

The question is: "If you take one of the top 60 or so punting candidates for the NFL, is there any way to reliably predict which ones are more likely to have an impact game on any given day?"

they can do what they want but history shows that it better be in line with the NFL.

Really not much different with ESPN limiting their writers from leveraging their
celebrity with their new twitter/ social media policies.

When you're a top player you can say or do whatever you want.
When you're a 31-year-old, below average punter who finished 22 in average length, 17 in net average and 31 in punts inside the 20, and a distraction, regardless over what, then you're expendable. When the team has a good, younger, cheaper option, they're stupid if they don't go in that direction.
Teams kept giving TO chances despite his distractions, which were far more detrimental to any team he played on than Kluwe's activism, because he produced. If you're Andy Lee or Dave Zastudil, you can probably get away with saying just about anything as long as you keep booming punts. Hell, how many chances did Jeff Reed get in Pittsburgh? It wasn't by coincidence that they finally ran out of patience when he started missing field goals.

Hentrich left Green Bay after the 1997 season. The team didn't have a losing record until 2005. Replacing the punter affected them nada.

Sure, their choice. They should just understand that not everyone will like or agree with them and be prepared for whatever backlash comes.
