I am pretty sure that if they catch a pedophile and find him guilty, they get him out of society.

I think the best answer is to keep kids away from pedophiles.

Apparently enough of them are getting out eventually -- and committing the crimes again. A Canadian study: http://www.johnhoward.ab.ca/PUB/C24.htm.

I know they have a high recidivism rate. And the people who prey on kids are truly sick, but you start getting all Starman on pedophiles and you'll start stringing up 17-year-old boys who sleep with 15-year-old girls.

Probably most of the people who are tagged as sexual offenders don't really pose any risk to anyone.

    Extremely chickenshit.
I hate stories attributed to "Staff report"
Especially when it's hard news like this.

Some of you might recall that this also happened at my former employer in Bristol, Va. not so long ago.

Well, I kind of understand in the sense that a seemingly decent human being who a lot of people liked and respected professionally turns out to have a very unlikeable dark side.

I think you can be sad that a person can become so depraved as to commit that sort of crime. Either they were born rotten or made awful choices, but either way they are irrevocably broken people. I find that sad.
