Damn, that's a great deal ... especially with a non-stop flight from Appleton. Midwest, I assume?

One of the main reasons why I didn't mind staying there, since I prefer that part of the Strip (MGM, NYNY, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, even the Trop).

Haven't stayed at that property since it was called the Twentieth Century, several incarnations and thirty + years ago. Have eaten there, but you must be very, very careful. If I'm staying that far south, I'm staying at the Orleans.

I'm a Mirage gal -- I love the hotel, especially after the rooms were refurbished last year, and I always seem to have the best luck gambling next door at TI (I love that casino, laid back vibe but full of nice people and very attentive cocktail service).

However, with the recent sale of the TI to the old owner of the New Frontier and the apparent sale of the Mirage, I'm going to have to rethink my strategy going forward. I liked that all my play at TI would go towards my stay at the Mirage, since they were both owned by the same company.

Sadness. I keep getting offers to check out the new Encore for next-to-nothing, so I might just be tempted to check it out.

Fiancee and I are looking at the new M Resort. It's way off the strip, but everything we've soon makes it look so money and it's at Circus Circus-level prices because it's a new hotel starting in a horrible economy.

TI is actually cool, but if you can afford the Encore why are you even thinking about it. By far best casino around. Plus it is close to the action.

Had some friends who went last weekend to watch the NCAAs. They said there were rooms at Mandalay Bay and The Wynn for about $100 a night.

    That's just insane.

    By 2007 standards . . . remarkable.

I'm just not a fan of the Wynn/Encore - it's too "bright". Same reason I hate the Venetian -- and I hate the Venetian/Palazzo with a passion.

I like the Mirage for many reasons - I like the darker, more laid-back feel of the casino and that it's very circular. I like the proximity to the Forum Shops for prime shopping. I like that I don't have to cross the street to get to the places I want to go gamble (TI, Mirage, Caesars, Bellagio). Plus, I LOVE the pool at the Mirage, and the cabana deals can't be beat right now.
