Then Arthur's tweet makes more sense. He's assuming it's a white guy.

So they can rule out that it possibly was an accident.

I don't think anyone up here thinks it's an accident. He traveled more than 2 kilometres on the sidewalk. And then appeared to point a gun, or what he hoped cops would think was a gun, when they apprehended him.

For the record, I am not arguing that this was an accident. The early reports were that police were investigating whether it was an accident or intentional. A poster asked if it was possible that something like this could be an accident. Yes, it's possible.

And in a rental van at that.

Guess it was, but was thinking like less than .5% chance it was.

The market in Santa Monica is an example.

Probably. But I feel like we've had stories before that had terrorism written all over them when they broke, and it turned out to be some mundane cause or some idiot doing something idiotic.

This is true. In this case, it's pretty obviously intentional. The speculation is all about whether this is a white guy killing immigrants or an ISIS-styled attack.

CBS is naming the suspect as Alek Minassian. I believe that's an Armenian surname.

Apparently he acted alone and isn't part of some larger terrorist network or effort. Just a fucking loser.
