USNWR folding?

    Says the NY Post's media columnist:


    I posted this here instead of the Journalism board because the real impact of this event would have little impact on journalism, and a TON of impact on the world of college admissions.

    Personally? Sayonara to their rankings. I'm all for some schools being more prestigious than others, but the fretting over whether Dartmouth is more prestigious than Cornell than MIT than CalTech than Northwestern is completely, completely, completely out of hand among high school kids.

    Like the Heisman Trophy, I would guess the USNWR college rankings will outlive its parent institution.

    It's a brand name with some value. Even if the mag itself goes tits-up, they'll sell the brand off to somebody else.
