Using "(subject) said" and when to break the rule

    again, res;pectfully disagree. it's about making the story understood, too. every time you make it, "ebert wrote" instead of said reminds the reader the guy can't talk anymore.

    eff those sillydictionary definitions as options 2, 3, 4 or 5. EVERYONE in everyday life accepts that said means said by speaking words aloud. ebert doesn't/didn't do that. CASE EFFIN' CLOSE!!

    i'm stunned that this is even up for debate. STUNNED, i type -- not "i say."
