  2. My problem isn't with the AP photographers or the way they have to write their cutlines. I actually do know and understand what their standards are. My problem is with people on the desk that won't take a few seconds to make those cutlines into something worthy of print.

    Apologies if my prior post didn't emphasize that point better.

  6. Why thank you, shotty! ... and no worries, buck. I actually have a good friend who works as an AP photographer, so I didn't want anyone to think I was slagging them.

    I picked it up rather late in my education, myself. But I accept it as being the truth now.

    I will say that you have a lot of instances in grammar/usage where people think their way is the universal truth because it's the only way they've ever known it. Or because somebody told them it was the universal truth when it wasn't really wasn't.
