USA Today: Selig leaning toward suspending Giambi if he doesn't cooperate

    Either they announced it incorrectly earlier in the day or I misunderstood. It's Stern that Patrick is having on, not Selig.

    And if Jason Giambi does talk about it, the Yankees void his contract and he gets suspended anyway.

    How do you suspend a player and void a contract for doing something that wasn't against the rules at the time?

    He can make an announcement saying that he's suspending him but he can't really suspend him. Some dumb people will say, 'wow, Bud is tough' and the rest of us will shake our heads and say, 'wow, Bud didn't learn anything from watching Bowie Kuhn all of those years.'

    Let's not go round and round on this point again. Whether it was against the rules is at the very least open to interpretation.
