Really interesting story here about abusive coaches. Could have done something about what the guy was referring to with other sports, but they did a nice job here.

Big difference. The swimming coaches caught went straight to prison. They were't slapped on the wrist and shunted from a parish coaching job in Worcester, Mass. to one in Albuquerque.

    Actually ...

... if you bothered to read the story you might think otherwise.

Fair enough, but there's still a difference between being sheltered by an institution and skipping town ahead of the posse.

Yes, but read that quote again: "We have a system that does not encourage the reporting."

In fact, it seems they have a system that DIScourages the reporting, which is why guys were able to get out of Dodge ahead of the law and go to another town and do it all over again.

Nonetheless, I certainly would not argue that this is on the same scale as the Catholic priest scandals.

Another example of great reporting by Brian Ross and his unit.

Right, if swimming were run by the Catholic church the abused kids would be disqualified from competition and told to swim 100 laps everyday. The abusive coaches would be promoted to another facility, where eventually they would become Olympic officials and pool owners.

One of the bigger things that struck me from this story was how the executive director of USA Swimming, Chuck Wielgus, ended up looking like a total ass. His quotes:

    And the worst:

Leave Brian Ross' unit out of this.

Hopefully this story isn't riddled with errors and exaggerations, like much of Ross's exclusive reporting.
