US Marines/CIA Now Inside Libya? (Hoo-rah!)

    There aren't 2000 Marines "on the ground" in Libya according to any of the stories posted on this thread.

    Well, the first post states it in the first paragraph and headline...but I would agree whatever onenewsnow is was implying based on the local ABC affiliate.

    Exactly. The story it links to says nothing about 'on the ground.'

    This is a Harrier unit (Marine Expeditionary UNit AV8 harriers, or jump jets) Not Ground Forces. They get assinged to ships such as the Kersarge fly off as a base.

    Marines on Osprey planes rescued the downed pilot (the other crew member was rescued by rebels). Harrier jets did drop bombs near the rescue zone.

    Marine units are not on the ground in the traditional meaning of the term. These are not ground forces.

    Firing off those 164 tomahawk missiles could prove to be an economic stimulus for the USA. We will now have to order more.
