And Republicans are stuck in the middle with Afghanistan in terms of criticizing Obama. They cry for withdrawal, and the Dems can shove the same "Cut and Run!" rhetoric that the GOP used so effectively in 2004.
Or, Obama can agree to withdraw, and the GOP has to meekly nod their heads.

And if the GOP cries to stay, and there will be more of these incidents that they won't be able to criticize Obama for staying. He's following their wishes.

As someone said on here a few posts ago, if Obama wins, we're out of Afghanistan by the end of his second term. We got Bin Laden and we beat the shit out of the Taliban to the point where the Afghans feel that they're not a threat (although we know differently).

Baron, the President -- our Commander in Chief -- should make what he believes is the right decision.

Whether or not Republicans criticize him should play no role in his decision. I don't know why you go through the hypotheticals of who would say what. What does it matter?

But then The Republicans would say that their were more soldiers killed on Obama's watch than Bush's

And Obama could say that was because more soldiers had to be sent there because Bush fucked up in the first place.

    That's a slippery slope.

Because Republicans have had a history in the last 10 years of questioning any American's patriotism if they are for ending any sort of war.

So Obama should stake the lives of our troops on his reelection.

    He learned from his predecessor.

Also by this logic, Bush should have resigned as soon more soldiers died in Iraq following his Mission Accomplished speech than before.

Again - more troops killed on Obama watch than Bush.

And again. Had Bush not half-assed it in Afghanistan because he wanted to play George the Conqueror in Iraq, we might not be in either place today.

Yeah, and if he learns his ABC's and his 123's, he'll move on to 1st grade.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the President, but I don't think for one second he's running these potential conversations through his head as he makes decisions like this.
