The Liberty Mutual spot with the guy dressed as a cell phone? Every time he starts to vibrate, I reach for my phone.

All the streaming services have to get together and figure out that they need more than a four-spot rotation. I don’t care if you have the most clever commercial of the year. If I see it a dozen times in the course of a basketball game I’m putting a hex on the sponsor.

That's really why GEICO's ad team -- the Martin Agency -- is so good. Not only are most of their ads really well thought out, but they've got the ability to switch between the gecko, the bluegrass players, the plays on rock bands, Marco Polo in a pool and several other campaigns to keep them fresh. I hadn't seen the Dikembe ad for quite some time until tonight.

Liberty Mutual's trying a similar strategy -- the emu, the people standing in front of the statue, etc. -- but the campaigns aren't nearly as witty or well written.

Having one specific spokesperson -- say a Flo or Lily -- is great for continuity and the viewers readily connect them with whatever they're selling, but at the same time, viewers may not remember the specific pitch. At least Mr. Whipple was always pinching Charmin.

The fat stoner in the Discover ads can choke on his turtle.

They should bury Flo in the sand — at low tide.

The ad agency who sold Liberty Mutual on the Limu Emu is stealing money.

“CAN I GET A BITE OF YOUR ICE CREAM? WHY DON’T YOU MIND YOUR OWN BIZ-NESS!”

I now have a toddler strutting around singing this 20 times a day and I want to scream.

    Thanks, Apple.
