He just haaaaaaaaaaad to dive back into the water for the girl, didn't he? I bet she would've left his ass in there.

Seriously, though, I hope he's OK, but this type of situation never usually turns out positive. Hopefully, he found something to hang on to or made it to land somehow.

Seems a lot of NFL players meet unnatural death in Lousiana and eastern Texas (David Overstreet, Joe Delaney, Jeff Alm, Eric Andolsek, Rusty Chambers.... just off the top of my head)

I had something else written as a response here, but you're right ... it was wrong for me to make light of the situation. As I mentioned in the post earlier, I do hope he's OK.

I know a life jacket is not cool, but if your parents never took you to swimming lessons as a child, not wearing one is a real gamble.

I lifeguarded at a rich kids summer camp for a spell in my younger days and never had to pull kids out of the water. They could all swim thanks to youth swim lessons. Some of my friends worked at a public lake close to a urban part of the city and they were making saves every day.

The WWL is reporting that it is now a "search and recovery" mode. Officials are presuming Hill drowned.

I've spent many an hour on a wave runner on a lake many times smaller than Lake Ponchartrain. You MUST wear a lifejacket. Those things are dangerous as hell.

    A sad loss.
