    I hope he runs.

Great track record as governor that’ll be fun to revisit.

He never made varsity and he ain’t gonna now.

Al Franken is the real victim.

Minnesota has a Senator in waiting, so the Dems won’t be down a vote on any potential legislation.

So, why hasn’t Al resigned yet?

The high ground was probably nice while it lasted.

Wasn't Gov. Dayton scheduled to announce a replacement yesterday?

Lt. Governor Tina Smith is replacing him. He's resigning. He should resign.

But by all means, be hysterical about it.

Still hasn’t resigned, and is obviously playing a role in this campaign to get him to stay.

My guess is he's staying until the tax vote. McConnell has made it pretty clear he's not seating anyone new until after the tax vote - Minnesota deserves both their votes on the tax measure, regardless of who makes them. With McCain out, the GOP has a one vote edge - 50-49. If the Dems get one Republican to flip, or if the Franken vote helps provide pressure for further concession...

    That’s not true at all.

Jones will be seated as soon as the election is certified.

Minnesota’s new Senator would we sworn in as soon as Franken resignes and she shows up with the proper paperwork. Could, and probably would, happen the same day.

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but it's supposed to take a couple of weeks to certify Jones' victory.

The tax vote is supposed to be this week.

That's just a coincidence, I'm sure. The Alabama vote won't be certified until early next week, at the earliest.

Right. Timing sucks for Dems, but it’s not a case of McConnel refusing to seat a new senator.
