UPDATE/FILLED: FREELANCE WRITER WANTED: R.A. Dickey feature at spring training

Discussion in 'Freelance/stringer help wanted' started by Dave_Ammenheuser, Feb 7, 2013.

  1. Wanted: A baseball or feature writer to write the tale of R.A. Dickey, in a new uniform, in a new league. Fresh off winning the Cy Young Award as a Met, he couldn't agree to a contract extension thus got traded to the new-look Blue Jays. A Nashville native/resident, we're looking for a story on how his winter went, how he's fairing in the new camp, etc., etc. Looking for a 35" profile. We written on him in the past, so we don't need another story on how he re-invented himself as a knuckleballer, or anything about his book, etc. We've done that. We want to know if he feels any pressure now that he's won the Cy Young Award and what he thinks about his new environment. Need the story filed by Feb. 19. Who's interested? Who's got the background to deliver something special? This will be the lead to a package of Middle Tennessee pro baseball/spring training, etc. Contact sports editor Dave Ammenheuser at dammenheus@tennessean.com. Don't call because I'm gone the next week.
