Can be anybody provide insight as to who specifically interviewed for this gig? It'd be nice to see a cross section of who the top targets for this gig were.

I know this is off topic, but I was driving around with Mrs. Clarkington today in Champaign and saw the Girls Gone Wild bus. She wasn't happy when I told her I'd have to go out to the bars tonight.

Isn't Tate paid by the unversity as a color analyst for basketball? That always struck me as an ethically questionable situation.

An excellent question. He does do radio analysis, although former players have served as the primary analysts most of the time.

Don't know who he's paid by, but the newspaper really got its knickers into a twist when John Thompson did analysis for Georgetown's NCAA game.

Yeah. He is. It's a crazy situation. But the guy is a legend in town.

He is paid by the column, so he's like a stringer.

Just goes to show that it takes a big prick to keep up with Mon Stertitz.

I don't know whether there's been a hire on this one, but I did notice that AP is hiring someone for Champaign-Urbana. The listing says that they're looking for someone who will spend 20 percent of their time covering sports, primarily Illini sports.

That makes me wonder whether the AP guy in Champaign landed this job.
