    The Union Democrat, a busy community daily in California's beautiful Sierra foothills, seeks a versatile writer to join our sports department. This is a great opportunity to cover a wide range of sports and recreational pursuits — from high school and junior college athletics to hunting, skiing, rodeo and rock climbing. We have mountains, lakes, rivers, ski resorts, endless trails, state parks, a national forest — and Yosemite — nearby.     It's a WesCom paper, so the pay won't be great, but certainly liveable.

    This opening's popped up a few times. A little birdie told me the person who left now works in the Antelope Valley.

    Might pay close to 30K for the right person. Lovely area with some arts, restaurants, wineries, history ... and it actually is not that far from Tahoe. California's version of four seasons as well.
