San Diego Padres once had a minor-leaguer in their system named Ethan Faggett ... pronounced it exactly like you'd think ...

I never understood why people in that situation don't just change their name ...

My wife grew up with a guy whose last name was Fagot, pronounced just like it looks... until he hit high school, when the family suddenly became French and pronounced it Fah-goe.

Isn't there a writer in the Milwaukee area with the name of Mike Hunt?

Thanks for the laugh there Mikey. That's one of my favorite Homer lines that I had forgotten.

    "Has anybody seen Mike Hunt?"

    "Practically everybody."

Same here, though I can never forget it. I can't find the episode or the exact line, though I think this is it:

(Homer's making a float with dozens of flowers.)
    Flanders: What'cha doing there, neighbor?
    Homer: Can't talk. Making float.
Flanders: I see that. Well, did you have to pick all my flowers?
Homer: Can't make a float without flowers.
Flanders: Right you are. But did you have to salt the earth?
    Homer: Heh-heh, yeah. ...

There's a kid with the last name of Chicken whose name we've seen a lot in the youth sports results the last few years. He should be on the high school varsity in a few years, so I can't wait for some of those headlines.

Ah, good call, Doc. If I had to guess, I'd say it's been since the first half of college since I've seen it. Do you happen to know which episode it is? I thought it was Season 11 or 13.

I apologize for the jack, but this has bothered me for a while.

Also a true story: My wife's sister married a guy whose last name was Dick. Right before they got married, he changed it to Dickson. He said he wasn't putting his kids through what he went through.
