    That was disappointing.

Yeah, President Obama gets credit for any improvement, too, just like he's getting credit (as would anybody who was in office at the time) for military gains, gains in the war on terror, and other big-ticket issues.

He'll be hard to beat in November, the way things continue to stack up.
He deserves some of the credit, too, so good for him.

That's stunning they're able to do that, considering all those socialistic policies put into place by the current administration. So I guess they're doing that IN SPITE OF them, which is even more impressive!

I expect the hiring to continue, and that's good news. Paradoxically, though, the unemployment percentage will start to rise as well as the discouraged workers come back looking for work. So concentrate on the number of jobs.

Hope I can land one of those minimum wage jobs to replace the one I just lost. I'm now part of Lee Elia's 15 percent.

Not sure which sides can and will take credit/blame throughout all of this.

The President can point to the 8.3% number and say, "let's not go back to the failed policies of the past."

I'm not sure if any Republicans are sharp enough to answer back that Democrats controlled Congress from January 2007 to January 2011. People generally only *see* who the president is but not always the push behind legislation.

That could be a very convincing argument but I don't think the current cast of Republican characters is sharp enough to express this.

Wait, just so I understand you, are you saying Democrats are to blame for the financial collapse?

And to continue your logic chain, the GOP gets credit for the recovery since they now control the House?

Can't be any different than the President taking credit for military victory of wars he spent years undercutting before taking the Oath of Office. :)

I don't think it is happenstance that since the "brakes" were put onto the Democratic push in November 2010 that businesses feel a little better about taking on more employees.

For me, the symbol that we are "back" is when people start buying houses again. That is a significant financial commitment -- even in the "soft market" of 2012. As long as people are skittish about their paycheck and security, they won't spend.

Just to be an asshole, the jobs that I'm qualified in my area that can pay me enough to pay my bills number is still hovering at about .0001%. I am not working at the .0001%, but I am grateful to have some type of fulltime employment.

    ;D

Good to see the numbers up, thought the 15% is what I'm concerned about. It's the way a lot of companies, especially retail, are going. Nobody wants to pay for benefits, which is why I support Obama. I could get a partime gig right now that pays me three times what I make sans insurance. I don't know how it will all work out, but at least there will be an option.

Thanks for the explanation. Now I know to not take you seriously about anything ever.

Obama is going to get re-elected. Four more years. Deal with it.

Ah the Party of Tolerance strikes again. :). Just because of a differing of opinion doesn't mean you need to be that dismissive. That's cool. I used to be like that, too.

Actually I agree with you. Obama will win again. Romney doesn't excite the base and Gingrich is too divisive. Neither will beat Obama in OH or PA.

The President also has two weapons he can use: Swap in Hillary for VP if he feels it is getting tight in June or July. Also the middle-class government refinance for mortgages. That'll buy back the minivan mom vote.

Romney and Gingrich can't compete with that.
