UND multimedia sports reporter — Grand Forks Herald

    The Grand Forks Herald is searching for an experienced sports reporter or exceptional recent graduate to join the newsroom as a UND Sports Multimedia Reporter.

    This reporter will work closely with UND hockey, football and basketball beat writers on creative UND-related news, features and enterprise. They will produces snappy and unique digital content and tell stories from the fan perspective.

    Podcast work, live video streaming, video editing/producing and fronting/anchoring on-air sports segments will be required.

    Our ideal candidate will be comfortable constantly moving from one story to the next and reading digital analytics to produce the best, most engaging work for our readers. They also will assists in the placement and movement of stories, headlines, content for the sports portion of the Herald’s website.

    We’re looking for a resourceful and energetic self-starter who can manage multiple assignments and write in an attention-grabbing style. In addition, you should be savvy with multimedia and social media platforms, have a knack for writing on topics and issues of interest to younger readers, and be able to work with the newsroom’s multimedia teams to present stories in the most effective way possible.

    Grand Forks is large college town, offering a vibrant and diverse community with plenty of outdoors, arts, sports, nightlife and recreation opportunities. The Herald is family-owned and offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits package with health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) and paid time off.

    Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. A background in digital media, newspaper and/or magazine writing, along with photo and multimedia skills, is required. Accuracy and the ability to write clean, crisp copy for multiple platforms is a must. A valid driver's license with a record insurable by the company is required.
