One of the teams I cover sent out a release yesterday with the headline, "Johnson fills staff with hiring of Hooker"

The greatest mistake I ever saw was in a cutline of a clipping hung up on one of the editor's windows on a tour of the UGA's Red & Black.

It was a team photo, listing names left to right...Bobby Jones, Bill Cartwright, some fucker, Ted Johnson...

I made up the names but the mistake is priceless.

    You rang?

A co-worker carries around a clip from a paper he worked at years ago where the byline reads:

    By SHIT FOR BRAINS

Just before I started my first full-time gig, that paper had run a photo from a drug bust presser. The cutline read something like:

"Sheriff Mike Byrd, Deputy Bobby Clampett, some jackass deputy and Cpl. Johnny Smith display 100 pounds of cocaine seized along Interstate 10."

Sheriff Byrd was none too happy that afternoon when the paper hit the stands.
