JDV, can you add another option for the poll here?

"No, he likely juiced, which explains his silence to Congress when he could have set the record straight. But he didn't."

Actually, JDV is missing the main point.
With or without juice, Mark McGwire's career statitics make him a borderline H of F candidate at best.

That one number is critical, sure.

But if you take away Nolan Ryan's strikeouts, he's still got seven no-hitters and 324 wins in 27 seasons.

Try to find me another player in the Hall of Fame who you can take ONE number away from them and they'd be left with less of a resume than McGwire. Because I can't find one ...

LOL, what the hell is that?

That equation doesn't even make sense (logically or humorously) - yet it does have entertainment value & is original so props for that I guess.

Would have worked better if it made sense. Oh well, I am thankful for the improvement.

Sad to say JDV but these journalist still have no idea what a Pandora's box that is about to be opened. I am sure when every thing breaks loose in 15-24 months they will be begging for an interview from an expert (see yourself). Until then they will continue to act like children and run from the truth they have hidden from the general public. They don't want the public to know the truth because the general public will find out that the sports writers are also partly responsible for this mess that professional sports has become.

Those that are in power need people to lift them up and protect them. Journalist have a unique position of being able to protect and ruin sport figures. Those that fail to live up to standards fail those that they serve.

And by the way asshole, it's asteriSk.

Most people learn that in about 5th grade.
Douchebags like you are too fucking stupid to learn anything.

Go take a few more steroids and get back to us in about 10 years.

Yeah, I sure feel that Mark has "suffered" enough.

Until he fesses up and actively helps in an anti-steroid education program, he has no business in the HOF. Bonds was HOFer before '99.

Or in some cases, spnited, they use spell check before they post.

Well, Oz, I rarely use spell check before I post.
I use it at work but not on a message board.

Besides, youore giving JDouchebagV credit for knowing what spell check is.
    Doutbful.

Look, Nolan Ryan is not a great example because he is super-bada@@ in so many ways & practically owns sections of Cooperstown (almost got to work with him/train him towards the end of his career one of my biggest regrets bc I LOVE Nolan - oh well did a little consulting of sorts and he did super awesome anyway - thrill to watch)

However, in a way Nolan does make a good point. He accumulated a decent number of no hitters and wins towards the end of his career and for a long time he didn't have that 300 win mark, etc. and his strikeouts were the dominant number/factor & NO ONE ever Q his HOF credentials (that I can remember)

As to other examples I am not statboy, but from most of the expert analysis I have seen they all back Mark on the merits including Gammons who, frankly, I trust the most (along with other top analysts)

Also, take the word/recs of players and managers who have also said Mark deserves in the HOF.

    That has to carry weight.
