    Oh no,

And this happens to a team so close to Lupica (the pillar of moral & ethical clarity for MLB)

    Here is a damning article:

    http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0427073roids1.html

Huh, who told you that? Who has said the same on background to top reporters for years?

    Oh right JDV.

Hey HOF voters ready to let Mark in the HOF yet?

If not go to Staples and stock up on some "black markers" to get all those asterisks ready.

Let's see where are we at now on asterisks?

1.) All players connected to Balco
2.) Mark & all congressional testimony players
3.) Apparently anyone that even knows Canseco's name
4.) The over 100 players involved in the Grimsley bust
    5.) Caminitti (sp?), et al
6.) The steroid ring busted in FLA recently that supplied many athletes including baseball
7.) Now this ring suppling MLB from a former Met's employee
8.) All the many players still failing tests
9.) The over 70% of MLB that has taken illegal amphetimines (greenies) for decades
    10.) Etc., etc., etc.!!!

Amazing, yet Mark and Barry are the only ones you want to keep out of the HOF? Oh right, you have resigned yourself to the fact that you can't keep Barry out, so you come up with twisted insane "logic" (err...bullsh@@) to rationalize that, and many wish for him to get hurt and not break the record.

It's so funny, proves what I said looooong ago - so many of the voters don't know S@@@ about what really goes on (playing, training, and otherwise) in elite sports. Many have never played sports at any serious competitive level. Yet, they cover it for the public.

What are you going to do now? The bodies and asterisks keep piling up & yeah they are your guys too?

My take is this. Clean up the sport as well as you can (testing, education, alternatives, REAL health safety studies on PED, etc.) and go from there. As far as the HOF goes - safe to assume that enough players were using PED of one form or another for a LONG time (and still are) and the only "fair" thing is to simply judge a players performance/stats on the field and that's it.

Anything else is a sham of logic, fairness, and frankly reality.

I have said it many times before & was not listened to well enough. Now, I have been conclusively proven correct (as I knew I would)

How many are prepared to sign onto this proposal?

Not just Mark and Bonds. I don't want Jason Grimsley in the HOF either.

If nothing else, this is truly the most bizarre thread title of all time.

All PEZ dispensers and distributors should be banned from the game for life.

    Both Indians I hated.

And JDV? Since you've given us all so many SCOOPS! in your time here, let me return the favor:
    It's asterisk. Not asterick.

    Or Alex Sanchez, dammit!

    ***

Hell, McGwire's not a HOF player just strictly on his merits. A .260 hitter who couldn't stay healthy, couldn't play defense, had no speed and only had five great years (1987, '96-99).

If not for one number -- 583 -- he'd have as much shot at Cooperstown as Roger Maris. That is to say, none at all.

And that's only looking at him from a baseball standpoint ...

IJAG, my point is that there are SOOOO many more names than that implicated.

This article and the other incidents cited in my posts above prove that. The numbers will continue to rise.

The question is how to fairly deal with that regarding the HOF.

I humbly submit that my proposal is the only fair unbiased way to deal with the issue.

When I clicked on the link and saw the picture, my first thought was, I never suspected that Mr. Met sold steroids to players.

And JDV, thanks for the scoop. I read the AP article about this eight hours ago at work.

BW, that is fine & I have no problem with that argument/analysis (although that "one number IS critical its like taking a pitchers wins away or Nolan Ryan's strikeouts)

However, we both know that if not for the "cloud" over Mark (err..MLB...err...almost all elite sports) he would be voted into the HOF as enough voters see him as qualified on the merits of his play.
