The UFC will remain successful and continue to grow because of their model. People have always tuned in for great fights. The UFC provides that.

Yeah, it can be boring if you don't know/appreciate that aspect of the sport. It's fine, you don't enjoy watching the sport. No need to bash it.

Soccer, hockey, baseball can all also be terribly boring if you don't like the sport, but are followed enthusiastically worldwide. There is a market for this sport.

It's like a long drive contest between a guy who does long drive contests professionally, and a regular golfer who has to work on other areas of the game in addition to driving the ball.

A high-level boxer will always out-box an MMA guy because the MMA fighter's hours are split between striking, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu, while the boxer can focus solely on boxing.

Yeah . . . CBS kind of didn't know what it was doing.

    From Dave Meltzer's daily update.

Man, 24/7 was great. I see Dave's point, but I dunno. The show made you care about both guys, and if you even have a passing affinity for boxing you want to see Floyd fight. Boxing fans are going to buy it, and I do think you could show 24/7 to a non-boxing fan and they would be engaged by the personalties of Mayweather and Ortiz.

Dave's point is true though. The thing you were really into was Floyd Jr Vs Floyd Snr.

As Gus Johnson would say - and probably will in the future, "OH MY GODDDD!"

Tell you what, seeing how far Floyd Jr. has gotten with that guy as his father, it sure cuts down any excuse Michael Vick has for being a scumbag because of his environment. [/crossthread]
