Its disgusting. I'm a big combat sports fan and won't be giving the UFC another penny until this is rectified.

Having said that, we've had many threads about college programs messing with credentials for similar reasons and we take college football seriously. So I'm not sure I'd draw the direct line that MMA can't be taken seriously.

Curious of the UFC's explanation. Only thing I can see is they released it to everyone embargoed, but that doesn't sound like the case. And why did they kick out his two co-workers who didn't work on the Lesnar story?

Not an MMA guy at all, but I agree that this alone doesn't change whether or not to take UFC seriously.

    After all, there's this:

Trump security removes POLITICO reporter from rally

And it's not going to change how we all take The Donald seriously, right?

Saw this on Twitter last night. After reading the story Moddy linked, I'm convinced this isn't a case of a couple of fanbois getting the boot. I am curious as to why they were axed by Fox, unless it was part of the latest layoffs.

UFC is basically a dictatorship. They own the sport, run the show, control the narrative and pretty much do everything but clean the venue afterwards. Is there anyone in the business who can stand up to them?

UFC, as an organization, is pathetic. It wants its press corps to be a fiefdom of boot-polishing fanboys. UFC regularly revokes credentials and treats reporters with contempt, but this instance is garnering so much more attention because Helwani's one of the sport's biggest champions.

I don't mean that as an insult or to insinuate he's one of the fanboys, more that Helwani covers the sport closer than anyoneand has arguably the biggest following. I can't imagine MLB stripping Ken Rosenthal of a credential and banning him for "life." Amateur hour.

When you boot someone as respected as Helwani - the five-time running MMA journo of the year - for doing his job and actually reporting - it makes your organization look small-time.

It's hard for me to take Dana White seriously under any circumstances.

This is a journalist who signs autographs and gets cheered at press conferences? OK, that's odd.

White almost solely speaks for UFC on all matters? OK, that's odd.

A guy is coming back from fake entertainment wrestling to UFC? OK, that's odd.

Said celebrity journalist is run out of an event because he reported this? OK, that's odd.

It's very hard to take this league, and frankly the whole sport, seriously. I'm sure they're fine athletes. I know they are. But, y'know, c'mon. How much of a rage outlet do viewers need?

In about 5 years, when Rousey's ready to view how she's been treated as the abusive grooming that it almost surely is, she'll strike a pretty big blow into the heart of the UFC. She and that league aren't going to end on good terms.
