Union-Tribune ran this in Sunday's paper, allowing Tony Gwynn, Norv Turner, Philip Rivers and Broc Glover to play the U.S. Open layout at Torrey Pines with reporters, photogs and videographers following them (there's a link within the online story).

Bottom line -- Glover had the best score with a 94, followed by Rivers (99), Turner (115) and Gwynn (119).

This was nice, kind of like the ESPN the Magazine stories they used to do with Dan Patrick and three others for a few years.

For an Open layout, those scores aren't bad. We'll see a few 90s in the tournament shot by actual professionals this year.

The USGA is getting ridiculous with its Open courses. Only things missing are the windmill and the clown's mouth.
