And Walter Iooss Jr. is taking photos for the site as well? Interesting.

    Love this description, BTW ...

How do you get to be a senior editor for The Players’ Tribune? | For The Win

A spokesman for the site told For The Win that the titles are based on the commitment level of the athlete, and that senior editors will contribute content to The Players’ Tribune on an ongoing basis, whereas contributing editors or guest contributors may not.

This ends any notions of a haggard Derek Jeter sitting in his office with a red pen behind his ear berating a timid Carter-Williams for his lack of sourcing in a shoddily written first draft before kicking him out into the newsroom screaming, “You’ll never make senior editor writing garbage like this.”

Chris Long has the title of social media editor.

Another issue with residency rules/regulations: Many kids can legitimately call several places "home."

Mom lives here. Dad and stepmom lives there. One set of grandparents live there. Grandma and her new husband live there, grandpa lives there ...

Not trying to make a political/moral statement, just stating how things are for many of my kids' friends.

That's all baked into eligibility determinations, Coco. It's easy enough to take care of above-board in cases where it applies.

Don't lose sight of what JRW did. They secretly re-drew the boundaries that had been agreed upon by all the leagues, then lied about it. It's a pretty simple case once all the documentation surfaced.

I think what Coco says gives some cover to the Chicago media for not figuring this out while the Lansing and South Holland mayors are making public proclamations about their residents on the team.

But, yeah, that wasn't ultimately what happened here.

There's been manipulation of Little League rules for decades. Wonder where all those crying foul over JRW's arrogant/selfish/obvious crap were in 1992 when those poor, poor Filipino kids lost their world title for using ineligible players. Or when Taiwan was banned from even getting on the airplane the next year for, as mentioned earlier, jacking around with boundaries (in that case school boundaries). JRW got what was coming to it -- and it was deserved.

Little League either ought to say the LLWS is only open to legit teams which have played at least 25 games together without ANY roster changes, or throw up their hands and quit worrying about it.

They should just have each town's league champion move on, instead of creating all-star teams. It'd make the run more meaningful and not end up having mini-professionals playing these games.
