U.S. boxer collapses, out of Olympics

    Gary Russell, who actually had a pretty good shot at a medal I think, was found unconscious and severely dehydrated.

    That's disappointing. I wonder why they didn't just let him fight at 125?

    Blurb in the Toronto Sun had British lightweight Frankie Gavin, the world champ, dropping out of the Olympics because he didn't think he could make weight.

    The real reason was that the Chinese didn't have the right sugar cubes for his tea.

    I think you have to qualify at a certain weight. Once you do, you're limited to that weight.

    That's correct. It's why Gavin just withdrew, rather than kill himself by trying to make weight.
