Is it that they don't want to fill them to save money or they haven't found what they're looking for yet?

  7. Pretty sure they just rolled this out since AP only recently designated where the regional hubs for the Central and West region is going to be.

I've seen this ad several times. They may have reposted, etc., but it's been out there at least three times in the past 18 months.
Once they had listings for each of the regions at the same time. Probably just shuffling the deck, have to post, etc.

Correct. The East and South ones have been filled for a bit. I think the Central and West desks open in April.

They're hiring (or at least advertising to hire) pretty aggressively in Phoenix and the positions all seem to be new. I interviewed for an AP reporting position in Flagstaff a few months ago, and I was told they were getting ready to grow their Western operation as they cut back some of their stuff in the East. Due to the way of the country was growing. This seems like more of that.

From what I've been told, the AP is in the midst of a hiring freeze and the only people who will get these jobs are internal transfers.
