John Belushi died. I didn't see a thread about this elsewhere.

Just read a good story online. Has anyone seen any tributes anywhere?

Great comedian who was on his way to being a better actor.

But he died by his own hand. With all the success he was enjoying, there was no need for the drugs and alcohol. Not that he was alone in this.

Enjoyed the Blues Brothers, but never really cared for his SNL stuff.

three_bags, how old were you then? I find generally people who weren't old enough to watch first-run shows, live, typically don't see what all the fuss was. One of my theories is much of the humor was ground-breaking, at least for TV and for mass consumption, and years later you can't see that. It seems stale, because that ground was broken and built upon, and what was built was razed, and new ground broken, etc.

I'd be curious to know your age during those days and whether you first saw those shows years later.

Re-runs. Oh, yeah. I watched the re-runs. YEARS later.

That might not prove my point, but I think I'm in the ballpark.

Of course, it could just be it wasn't funny to you. ;D

You're right. Maybe I just didn't get it. The restaurant/sword bit and the bumblebees just didn't do it for me.

I hope his ghost relentlessly haunts his brother and Akroyd.
