Then the next folo: "UPDATE: HS QB hit it, then quit it!"

Years ago, our paper did a Valentine's Day story (really, the only time of year you should try to pull this off) about two star basketball players who were dating. The story came out OK. The relationship did not. Within a month they broke up.

I'd run this, but only if there was a famous connection or something. Like his girlfriend happened to be on some TV show, had done roles in movies, or whatever. Otherwise... meh. I could see it if you have a "varsity" section you're trying to fill weekly (and what paper has that?), but I shrug.

Well, I haven't covered Duck, Duck, Goose. So I've got that going for me.

But didn't you win an award for your coverage of the Cuyahoga County freeze tag championship?

Ah, those were the days. I need to highlight that on my resume.

My big worry was pointed out earlier: high school relationships can fall apart with a single text. Had one mother try to pitch me that her daughter (on the women's basketball team) and her boyfriend (on the men's basketball team) were a real life Love & Basketball. Sure enough, they were done within three weeks.

Or as I call them to some coaches who are as beleagured by them as I am, the common enemy.
