TV shows that hold up

    I didn't pay Northern Exposure much attention when it was still on, but in syndication I gained a great appreciation for it.

    For my money, "Columbo" has solid staying power for a series that ran during the time of rotary phones.

    And I'm with Mizzougrad on "The Larry Sanders Show."

    Blasphemy, I can still watch a marathon of All In the Family.

    MASH and Boy Meets World hold up really well. And, anything in the Star Trek franchise, too, although some shows do better than others.

    Orbach is the man.

    NYPD Blue is still pretty damn good. I was given a few of the seasons on dvd, they are still as great as ever.

    I'm in the camp of "Home Improvement" not being funny at all, but for those interested, the E! True Hollywood Story of the show is on right now.

    It looks bad, though. Grainy and bad color. Mary Tyler Moore does, too.

    Those old black and white shows hold up better visually than some of the color shows from the 60s and 70s.
