The Egyptian government was prepared for today's protests and took every step possible to suppress them.

Despite their efforts, it appears that protests have gone forward in cities across the country. This can only encourage the protesters and the general populace.

I don't know if it's because they lack the means or the will to "break heads" like the Mullahs in Iran did, but if they don't/can't then Mubarak will be gone in hours or days.

If protesters go 2 for 2 (Tunisia & Egypt) this could spread like a wildfire.

Reports say that the Obama administration is concerned about the events.

I'll bet they're a lot more concerned in Tehran, Damascus, Riyadh, Algiers, Tripoli, etc.

Iraq will be the only muslim democracy left in the Middle East.

Mohamed ElBaradei had been put under house arrest.

Is Mubarak angling for a State Dinner hosted by Obama?

(It's a joke. ElBaradei, like Liu Xiaobo, is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Obama, also a Nobel Peace Price winner just hosted a dinned for the Chinese premier -- the man responsible for imprisoning Liu Xiaobo.)

Isn't it currently the only Muslim democracy in the Middle East?

Azrael mentioned this guy earlier: http://twitter.com/#!/SultanAlQassemi

    He's been great.

Alexandria "is in the hands of protesters."

The army is rolling into Cairo. This is the last stand.

Also reports that the internet has been cut off in Syria.
