Bill Blankenship will be named Tulsa’s next football coach during a 2 p.m. press conference, a source close to the situation said on Friday.

Blankenship, 54, has spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach on Tulsa’s staff. He is believed to have been one of four candidates that interviewed for the position left vacant since Todd Graham departed for Pittbsurgh on Monday.

    This needs a new thread?

Sorry. I didn't know there was an enrollment requirement for a school (see: Michigan, UConn) to get its own new-coach thread.

Good for Bill. I ran into him and his wife at Chilis the other week. He has always been a great coach, especially in the HS ranks, and a good person. His son Josh just got the head coaching gig at nearby Muskogee High School.
