Oklahoma's negative obsession with All Things Texas is an endless source of amusement.

If Blake Griffin didn't get every call, including calls on opponents who attempt proper, clean boxouts, OU wouldn't have made the elite 8.

The best thing about the column is that the columnist found a local angle for the national title game. I saw way too many columns and gamers from that game that most readers could have picked up on any wire service, Yahoo!, ESPN, etc.
Instead, Sittler found something people in Tulsa will actually have a good reason to read. And even if he was pandering a bit, who cares?

I love how that column essentially ignored Oklahoma losses to Mizzou and Oklahoma State WITH a healthy Griffin back in the lineup. Those losses -- not the losses to Texas and KU with Griffin out -- are what cost the Sooners. Everyone still had them on the No. 1 going into the conference tournament.

BTW, in those losses to Mizzou (16 points, 21 rebounds) and Oklahoma State (17 points, 19 rebounds), he showed no ill effects from that concussion. He shot at least 66 percent in both games.

Griffin against North Carolina: 23 points, 16 rebounds. They got smoked anyway. This renders entire argument moot.

I hate columns, or even reasoning, like this.
You made it to a regional final. That's not a terrible year, regardless of your aspirations.
And you say you'd have played North Carolina later. That's assuming you got past Louisville, UConn, Michigan State, Missouri, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Villanova, or three or four other quality teams in the regional final or sooner.
And where do you end up at the end if you make it through that? Playing North Carolina, which you did anyway. You've got to go through them at some point.
You had your shot. You blew it. STFU.

You're kidding, right? Griffin got the crap beat out of him on a regular basis all season long. It's a tribute to his strength and big-time body he got through it standing.

That's why I think Griffin will be an excellent pro. That's what happens to a big man in the NBA every night. He's shown he can play right through a mauling and put up dominant numbers.

This could have been a good column if he'd written it tongue-in-cheek, with a tone that showed he was only half-serious.

Yep. Only The Dear Ol' Ags can rival it.
