Boy, you guys have really convinced me.

You know you've got a strong argument for Muslim Americans being among our sports heroes when you present a retired guy who was born in Turkey, and another retired guy born in Russia.

Yeah. I son't know how I didn't think of them.

Muslim heroes are everywhere in sport!

You should talk to Under Armour then, given they rolled out an entire line of Ali gear recently.

Sure they were. Against their will in most cases.

He hasn't been active in years.

Sorry, but I think about kids having sports heroes, not adults.

Do kids even know who he is? That's why I'd think you'd have to be current to be considered a sports hero today.

But, also, as I said, you should read about his conversion to Islam:

I was rejecting the religion that was foreign to my American culture and embracing one that was part of my black African heritage.

OPINION: Why I converted to Islam

The Islam embraced by African-American converts is about African identity.

I just want to point out that 15,000 is 1.15 percent of 1.3 million. But yeah, under represented.

Why are you do focused on where people are born? You seem to have some narrow view of what constitutes a real Muslim.
