OK, I'm not exactly 100 percent sure on this, but I think so with a very high degree of probility:

Heading into today's games (Monday), which active player has the highest career batting average in major-league baseball, for players with at least 150 career plate appearances?

I'll be otherwise occupied for several hours but will be back on to check out the answers at about 2 p.m. EDT.

I would guess someone like Nomar or Ichiro, but making it only 150 PAs tells me it's some lucky stiff who has barely played.

Here's one: which current closer recorded his first save earliest in his career AND leads all current closers in complete games.

Tom Gordon. First save in 1988. Not sure how many complete games, but I know he made 203 career starts.

Edit: I looked it up. He has 18 career complete games.

I don't know if there is sarcasm in that or not... but it did take about seven attempts to get what I thought was the correct answer.

From the best sources I could find, it is Todd Helton, at .334.

    Who leads the American League?

O course, the spirit of any competition is not to use Google research sources and go with what you alread know.
